Description

The automatic hydraulic filter-aid precoat plate and frame filter press is designed for fine clarification and turbidity reduction of liquids requiring high filtration quality. The main product-contact components are manufactured from stainless steel for hygienic processing applications.

The filter press uses a hydraulic closing system to securely compress the filter plates and frames before filtration. Filter aids such as diatomaceous earth, cellulose or perlite can be precoated onto the filter media to form a highly permeable filtration layer, improving the removal of fine suspended particles and helping achieve stable liquid clarity.

The BASJL600-16 model provides a filtration area of 16 m² and operates at a filtration pressure of up to 0.4 MPa. Cardboard or filter sheets can be used as the supporting filter media. The approximately 40 mm filter frame provides sufficient space for filter-aid precoat and cake accumulation, making the equipment suitable for batch clarification processes requiring efficient cake discharge and convenient cleaning.

Main Features

  • Automatic hydraulic closing system provides stable and uniform compression of the filter plates and frames;
  • Stainless steel product-contact components are suitable for hygienic liquid filtration applications;
  • Compatible with diatomaceous earth, cellulose, perlite and other suitable filter aids;
  • Supports precoat filtration to improve the retention of fine suspended solids and reduce liquid turbidity;
  • Approximately 40 mm filter frame provides space for precoat material and accumulated filter cake;
  • Cardboard or filter sheets can be selected according to filtration requirements;
  • Plate and frame construction provides a large effective filtration area and convenient cake removal;
  • Simple internal flow path facilitates cleaning, inspection and routine maintenance.

How Precoat Filtration Works

Before normal filtration begins, a suspension containing the selected filter aid is circulated through the filter press. Diatomaceous earth, cellulose or perlite is deposited evenly on the surface of the filter sheet to create a porous precoat layer.

The process liquid is then pumped into the closed filter chambers under pressure. Fine suspended particles are retained by the precoat layer and filter media, while the clarified liquid passes through the filtration layer and is collected at the outlet.

During operation, solids gradually accumulate inside the filter frames and form a filter cake. At the end of the filtration cycle, the hydraulic pressure is released, the plates are opened and the accumulated cake can be removed for cleaning and preparation for the next batch.

Filter Aid Options

  • Diatomaceous earth for fine clarification and turbidity reduction;
  • Cellulose filter aid for forming a permeable supporting filtration layer;
  • Perlite for clarification processes requiring good cake permeability;
  • Different filter aids can be selected according to liquid characteristics, particle size and required filtrate clarity.

Typical Applications

This stainless steel precoat filter press can be used for fine clarification of process liquids in applications where fine suspended solids must be removed and high filtrate clarity is required. The appropriate filter sheet and filter aid should be selected according to liquid viscosity, solids content, particle size and filtration requirements.
